This was not just a contest, it was a stage for voices to spark change!
Poets from across Nigeria were challenged to drop powerful 90-second spoken word videos on the theme “We Need New Names”, inspired by the upcoming elections in 2023. Entries went live on Instagram, and the community voted by likes, but the real fire was in the words.
The journey ran from September to November 2022, building up to the Grand Finale in December–January, where past winners battled it out for the crown.
Votes counted for just 20%, but merit and message carried the weight.
At ₦100,000 cash prize was at stake, as well as the honor of being crowned the voice of the people.
It was all about truth, creativity, and the power of spoken word to inspire a new future.
